Help Us Find the Funding to Spark the Future: Grant Writer
The OC Makers Foundation is seeking a Grant Writer to help us secure the resources we need to grow our programs, expand community outreach, and inspire the next generation of creators and problem-solvers.
We’re a grassroots nonprofit run by volunteers who believe in the power of hands-on making, collaboration, and creative education. From our signature event Maker Faire Orange County to pop-up workshops and both youth and adult mentorship programs, we rely on community support—and that’s where you come in.
What You’ll Do
Research grant opportunities that align with our mission (STEM/STEAM education, maker spaces, community development, etc.)
Collaborate with our leadership team to develop compelling proposals
Draft and submit grant applications with a focus on clarity, impact, and storytelling
Track grant cycles, reporting deadlines, and submission statuses
Help us build a sustainable funding strategy for long-term growth
Who You Are
A strong writer with a talent for storytelling and organization
Passionate about education, makerspaces, and grassroots community building
Comfortable working independently with occasional check-ins via Zoom
Ideally experienced with nonprofit grant writing—but we’re open to enthusiastic learners, too!
Time Commitment
We’re flexible. Whether you have a few hours a week or want to help on a per-grant basis, we’d love to work with you. This is a fully remote opportunity.
Why It Matters
Every dollar we raise helps unlock opportunities for curious minds of all ages. Whether it’s purchasing soldering kits for our Learn to Solder workshops or supporting a high school team building their first robot, your work will directly impact real people and real projects.
